Something about overly complex contraptions is fascinating to me, and, I suspect, a lot of others. At LAX's Tom Bradley Terminal, I spent a good 20 minutes staring at this device where balls are elevated by the conveyor lift on the left side, and then take one of the many possible paths downward. I wonder how many people missed their flights because of it.
